When we (let’s be honest, ‘I’) was planning my wedding, I wanted to use pieces that I would (try) to keep forever! We did a Unity Candle Ceremony, and I wanted to use one of our side tables. The theme of the wedding was a Classic Vintage theme, so I was looking for a pedestal table. After hours of scrolling on LetGo, I came across the perfect size oak (yuck) side table! I figured for $30, it was worth a try!

What I used:

  • Early American Stain
  • Walnut Stain
  • Grey-Wash Stain
  • White Paint
  • Sandpaper
  • Paint Brush
  • TSP Cleaner
  • Polyurethane Water-Base Seal
  1. Sand off the original seal over Oak Table.
  2. Using half White Paint and half water, paint a coat over the oak. This works as a primer and adhesive to the remaining stain.
  3. Apply first coat of Early American Stain to table.
  4. Once the first coat of Early American stain is dry, apply the walnut color stain. Your table with look like a dark brown at this stage.
  5. Once the coat of Walnut is dry, apply the grey-wash stain.
  6. Once the grey wash stain is dry, apply another coat of the grey-wash stain.
  7. Once that coat is dry, use a fine sandpaper to brush over the stain to work as an adhesive for the polyurethane, while also creating a distressed farmhouse, weathered look.
  8. Clean the table with TSP Cleaner to remove excess dust and other oils.
  9. Apply top coat of polyurethane.
  10. YOU’RE DONE!

It turned out beautiful, and I love walking into our family room and seeing it every morning and thinking of our wonderful wedding day!!Processed with VSCO with hb2 presetProcessed with VSCO with hb2 preset
